The story you live from does not begin with your goals, your strategy, or even your effort.
It begins in the subconscious mind.
Every result you experience—personally, professionally, relationally—is generated from the subconscious paradigms you hold about who you are and how the world works. Long before action enters the picture, identity has already set the course.
The Quiet Power of Your Inner Dialogue
How aware you are of your internal dialogue changes everything.
In my work with leaders, I guide a powerful exercise that reveals what is quietly playing on repeat beneath the surface. Leaders are often surprised—not by how loud the inner dialogue is, but by how old it is. Much of what runs their decision-making today is connected to experiences, words, trauma, or interpretations formed years—sometimes decades—earlier.
That inner dialogue dictates:
- Who you believe yourself to be
- Who you believe you are not allowed to be
- What risks feel safe or unsafe
- What opportunities feel “for people like me” or “not for someone like me”
And from there, behavior follows.
Alignment Is Not Optional
Desired results must align with beliefs, identity, and behavior.
You cannot sustainably outperform your self-concept. If the identity underneath the goal does not match the outcome you say you want, something will eventually pull you back to familiar ground. That’s not failure—it’s the subconscious doing its job to protect coherence.
This is why real transformation does not start with doing more.
It starts with changing the paradigms, the beliefs you live from.
How Paradigms Are Formed (and Changed)
Paradigms are shaped by:
- Significant events
- Words spoken over us
- Trauma
- Fascination
- Repetition
Here’s the key:
You only directly control repetition.
Fascination, however, is your secret ally. Fascination is what happens when you allow yourself to explore new depths and dimensions—of leadership, of self, of possibility. What you repeatedly return your attention to begins to rewire what feels normal, possible, and true.
BE → DO → HAVE (Not the Other Way Around)
There’s a saying that has lived in the coaching world for decades because it continues to prove itself true:
“Be who you need to BE, so you can DO what you need to DO, and HAVE what you want to have.”
Most people reverse this order and wonder why they stay stuck.
Identity comes first.
Why the Senses Matter
Your five senses feed both the conscious and subconscious mind.
At birth, everything is subconscious intake. Conscious development doesn’t fully come online until around age two or three. By then, the foundation is already being laid.
This is why imagery, environment, repetition, and emotional safety matter so deeply in change work.
It’s also why I love vision boards.
Vision, Imagination, and Identity
Your imagination fuels the flow of a vision board.
Reason, when misused, shuts that flow down.
Reason says:
- “That’s not realistic.”
- “Who do you think you are?”
- “This is just how it is.”
Imagination, on the other hand, allows identity to stretch. It gives the subconscious new reference points—new images of what could be true.
To build stately mansions, you must first change the consciousness of the builder. Neville Goddard addresses this in The Power of Awareness.
The Most Important Question You Answer Every Day
How do you finish the statement:
“I am…”
That answer reveals your current identity.
And your confirmation bias—rooted in primal needs for safety and security—will work tirelessly to prove that identity correct. It looks for evidence that supports the outdated paradigm of "safety and security."
This is where transformation often stalls.
If a person is determined to be right about who they are (or aren't,) they will be—no matter how much evidence exists to the contrary. Awareness interrupts this loop. Without awareness, identity never shifts.
Awareness Is the Gateway
Self-identity awareness is not about self-criticism.
It’s about seeing clearly—without judgment—what story you are living from.
From that place, choice becomes possible.
And once identity shifts, behavior follows naturally.
Results stop feeling forced.
Leadership becomes congruent.
And the life you’re building finally matches who you are becoming.
If you’re ready to explore what’s truly driving your inner dialogue—and what’s waiting on the other side of an identity shift—this is the work we do in partnership with horses. There is no riding, all work is done from the ground and no knowledge of horses is needed.
Why Horses Are Masterful At This Level Of Work
Horses are uniquely powerful partners in leadership transformation because they respond to who you are being, not who you are trying to be. As sentient beings with highly attuned nevous systems, horses read cohearence, congruence, intention, and authenticity instantly-without bias, story, or social conditioning.
They don't engage your titles, credentials, or coping strategies; they engage your inner state. This makes them extraordinary mirros for subconscious patterns, identity gaps, and misalignments between belief, behavior, and desire.
When a leader shifts internally, the horse responds immediately, offering clear, embodied feedback that bypasses intellect and goes straight to awareness. In this way, horses help leaders feel the truth of alignment—not as a concept, but as a lived experience—making identity-level transformation faster, safer, and profoundly sustainable.
